What is Judo?
Hatfield Judo Club is fully committed to the wellbeing and safeguarding of all its members.
The Club believes that it is important for all members, parents, coaches and spectators to show respect and understanding at all times for the welfare and safety of others.
That is why we encourage all members of the club to share any concerns or complaints they may have with the Head Coach Attila Cseh and/or the Welfare Officers Susanne Fellowes and Lesley Dean.
As a member of Hatfield Judo Club, you are expected to abide by the following rules:
Mrs Susanne Fellowes
Club Welfare Officer
Sue joined the Hatfield Judo team in 2023 as Club Welfare Officer where she ensures the safety and well-being of its club members is of paramount importance. Having started Judo in Potters Bar in 1982 when she was 6, she then moved on to Barnet Judo Club in 1986 gaining a green belt (3rd Kyu) and entering many competitions. She now enjoys encouraging her son Henry on his Judo journey.

Attila Cseh
1st Dan
Head Coach
Attila having started Judo in Hungary in 1996 when he was 11 years old. In 2002, he joined Óbuda Judo Club, Budapest where he was awarded brown belt (1st Kyu) in 2005. In the following year, Attila's head instructor asked him to carry on as assistant coach.
In 2010, Attila moved to the UK and had a few years break from Judo. He then joined the former Falcon Judo Club in Hatfield in 2015, and he was awarded black belt (1st Dan) in 2016.
From 2016 to 2023, Attila was the Senior Coach until Falcon Judo had moved. In April 2023, Attila established a new club as Hatfield Judo Club.
Attila is a FPJ Level 1 and Level 2 coach. He is also a BJA Level 1 coach.

Miss Blanka Setényi
Club Secretary
Blanka joined Hatfield Judo Club as the club secretary and first aider in 2023. She has different martial art experience. Blanka is now supporting her daughter Hanna in her Judo.

Richard Young
2nd Kyu
Coach
Richard is a Judo parent who stepped on to the mats himself in 2021 at the former Falcon Judo Club. After training at Falcon and St Alban's Judo Club, Richard was awarded blue belt (2nd Kyu) in 2023. Soon afterwards, Richard gained the requisite FPJ Level 1 qualification to become a coach at the new Hatfield Judo Club.

Meet the team
As a member of Hatfield Judo Club, you are expected to abide by the following rules:
1. All under 18 members must remain inside the Dojo (class) while lessons are in progress.
2. All club members must wear suitable and clean kit (Judo gi), preferably white. The wearing of any hard metallic items is prohibited.
3. All members should wear appropriate footwear (sliders) when they are off the mat. Before stepping on the mat, the footwear must be placed next to the edge of the mat. NO FOOTWEAR ALLOWED ON THE MAT (except socks for medical reasons)
4. Female members must wear a club t-shirt or plain white t-shirt under their Judo gi and hair should be tied back. Nails must be kept short and clean.
5. Members must ask permission from the sensei (coach) to leave the mat during a lesson.
6. All members are to show respect to their opponents (uke) - bow to each other before/after practising or fighting with each other. Respect must always be shown to the sensei and others coaching.
7. Members should keep to the timing of their lessons and competitions. If unable, inform the sensei.
8. Members must pay the mat and competition fees on time.
9. Under 16 members are not allowed to smoke on club premises or whilst representing the club at competitions.
10. Members are not allowed to consume alcohol or drugs of any kind on the club premises or whilst representing the club at competitions.
11. Parents and spectators are welcome to lessons and competitions but asked to remain respectfully quiet.
